A friend's comment on Face Book's "What's on your mind?" goes like this:"Growing old is not very nice.." & I added,"at all." She had to travel from New Zealand to be with her mum at SGH,Kuching before stopping a while in Miri. Yes,indeed it is not very nice at all to grow old. Along with growing old comes the growing pains. The aches, the pains, the swelling, the tingling, the numbness & all the nasty feelings an aged person gets, increase intensely if left untreated.Memory loss as well...an aged person remembers well what happened a long time ago but forgets the most recent of events. One old lady, whom her daughter thought had gone senile but on second thought, her daughter thinks otherwise because she still can remember her bank book & its content. Hehehe!!!
While there are some who are still as fit as a fiddle even though they are approaching 80 yrs old, some of us start early at Growing Old. I always envy this couple who have so much energy in them even though they are in their late 70's. They are often seen/heard travelling not only to the cities but to the outbacks. Quite recently, while waiting for my son at the airport,I saw from a distance, this aunty who just arrived from KL, with the help of an MAS staff pushing 2 trolleys full of bags & boxes.Wah! Amazing....Each time I came back from Kuching,I struggled with my bag, even though it's almost empty except for about 30 pieces of pies bought at Kai Joo Lane.
It would or rather it is indeed nice to grow old without the pain(s).
